Doctors in ALL SHS: enhancing your skills outside the sector  academic

Context and objective

Currently a young doctoral researcher in the humanities and social sciences or arts, letters and languages, you are at a pivotal moment in your career. You may feel distant from institutions outside of higher education and research and companies, or even helpless to approach them. And yet, our activity as recruitment consultants and our studies show that you have real talents to bring to a wide variety of organizations, if you are proactive and prepared. By playing on a mirror effect where you will learn in turn to understand the challenges of your future recruiters and to better present yourself, this training offers you to use this understanding to imagine positions where you could bring added value and build your communication strategy.

Program

Module 1: Detect the variety of careers and professional environments to better project yourself into them

  • Know the variety of business sectors and their evolution in a knowledge-based society

  • Understand the challenges, codes and entrepreneurial culture

  • Understand the organization, services and businesses of a company

  • Have a more global visibility of the employment market for doctors (types of positions, sectors of activity,  examples of career pursuit according to the disciplines)

  • Learn to explore opportunities through specific job descriptions for doctors in ALL SHS

Unit 2  : Solve entrepreneurial problems

  • Solve in a group a real business problem based on the skills developed in the doctorate

  • Present the solution to the group and the skills implemented

  • Translate the required actions and skills mobilized in the form of a job description

Module 3  :  Take stock of your skills using a portfolio

  • Define and identify your skills and put them into perspective to operationalize them

  • Knowing how to talk about your research project / knowing how to get out of your research project

  • Know how to get out of the student logic to translate their skills into a powerful vocabulary outside Higher Education and Research

Unit 4:  Build your service/skills offer and present it

  • Imagine jobs in which you can bring added value thanks to your difference

  • Knowing how to move from a posture of "  job seeker  » to a posture of «  solution provider  »

  • Build an approach and communication strategy on yourself to convince a recruiter and reassure him about his ability to adapt to a non-academic environment
