This qualitative study focused on the paths of doctors who, during their careers, went to the private sector. Is it a career considered systematically by default, as some received ideas claim, or a real professional choice? We therefore wanted to analyze the backgrounds and career paths of the participants, their development, their motivations during their various professional mobility and their satisfaction with their career.

This survey focused on a population of ten doctors exercising, at the time of the study, a professional activity in the private sector, whether in R&D or outside R&D. In order to obtain visibility on all career paths, we have selected doctors at different times in their professional careers, ie 3 years after their thesis defense, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years and more than 20 years.
